The plains of Tornado Alley during the spring produce some of the most epic and violent displays of atmospheric beauty on earth. Join Tim Baca, 2020 Storm Photographer of the Year, and the rest of the Extreme Photo Workshops team as we pursue the raw fury of severe weather—from colossal sculpted supercells to powerful tornadoes and brilliant shows of lightning. Extreme Photo Workshops is not your average storm chasing workshop. You'll be guided by skilled photographers and storm chasers focused on getting you a front row seat to Mother Nature's wild side and teaching you how to master storm photography camera settings while creating compelling compositions and scenes with unique foreground elements.

2026 was a slower severe weather season compared to the tornado and sculpted supercell fests of 2024 and 2025. It pushed me as a storm photographer to create compelling photos since the storms weren't quite living up to my expectations.

Thankfully, the latter part of the season brought some of our best chase days in Colorado, and I was thrilled to finally capture a gorgeous High Plains supercell.

On this particular day in June, Storm Chaser Tim Baca and l drove to Limon, CO, where we watched one of the prettiest storms of our 2026 season unfold. This supercell tried so hard to tornado in its early moments, but just couldn't quite get it done.

Afterward, we had an overnight drive back to New Mexico because we both worked the next morning. We pulled into the driveway at 4 a.m., just in time to get a couple hours of sleep. And we'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.

On 4/21/22 this LP supercell commanded the Kansas horizon as the incandescent colors of sunset spilled across its sculpted structure. Spring is here, and soon the dramatic atmosphere will fill my lens again!
